We held our first workday of the school year this past Saturday, August 20th. It was a great success and start towards preparing for fall planting. We had parents and students come by on a sunny morning from 10 am to 1pm. The beds were cleared, the trench weeded and prepared by Julia and Virginia for the future rainwater catchment system, pine cones collected, the pond was drained and cleaned, and piles of compostable materials gathered and ready for garbage day. It was great to have middle schoolers out as well to do some community service.
Here are some images from the day. Our next workday will be this coming Saturday, August, 27th from 10 am to 1pm (and possibly beyond). We will be working on the roofing and foundation for the water with Matt Freiberg from The Watershed Project. This will be the final steps towards completing the project from a grant that Stephanie Ma and Matt had been working on. We hope to see you out and that the sun will shine.
