SLANT Workshop in the AFY Garden

After school today the AFY Garden was the site of SLANT’s (Science, Literacy, and Arts iNtegration in the 21st Century) workshop where educators and garden coordinators gathered to learn how to integrate arts and literacy with science in garden programs. We learned how to use view catchers (frames) to isolate certain parts of the garden to observe and draw as well as ways of creating a written piece out of our drawings. Today’s event was one out of the four workshops in the Open the Classroom Door Series happening from Monday through Thursday this week. Here are some photographs from this evening.
