This past weekend green schoolyard enthusiasts from all over the world convened in San Francisco for Engaging Our Grounds: 2011 International Green Schoolyard Conference. During the three day conference, participants had the chance to network, listen to lectures, and tour school gardens in San Francisco and Berkeley. Alice Fong Yu was selected as one of the featured schools on the tours. Throughout the day we had four tour buses of conference attendees come visit the AFY garden, see the features & design, and ask questions about our program. Click here to read about our garden and the other schools featured during the weekend (Commodore Sloat Elementary, Sherman Elementary, Tule Elk Early Education School, The Edible Schoolyard at MLK Jr. Middle School, City of Berkeley’s Adventure Playground, and Rosa Parks Elementary School). A big thank you to the parents Jade Moy, Virginia Scarborough and Julia Gourd for volunteering and leading tours as well as to our 3rd grade teacher Benton Tom for helping the whole day on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Here are some photos from the day as well as from Cam Collyer’s presentation in the Green Room of Herbst Theater.
