This past Thursday we had a lovely group of students from the after school garden program at Marshall Elementary tour the AFY garden. On the field trip, lead by their coordinator Claire Lagerway, they explored and took notes on different garden features including the sand pit, painted garden signs, water cistern, garden shed, pond, and composting system. At the end of the day they worked together to set up the water the aqua duct system and successfully diverted water from the faucet to one of the garden beds below. Starting next semester the students will start a garden program during school and the hope is that they will integrate some of the features they like from the gardens they’ve been visiting. We’d like to thank the Marshall Garden Program for choosing to come to AFY and for being a wonderful group of visitors.
