Plant Life: January 2012

Our vegetable plants have survived winter break thanks to the volunteer watering efforts of Pauline Ly and Jade Moy. It’s exciting to see our cheddar cauliflower appear amongst its jungle of leaves. The bok choy, cabbage, kale varieties, collard greens, and peas are also doing well in this dry winter that we are having at the moment.

However, there have been some set backs with gopher invasions over winter break. They have been pulling plants down under one by one over a series of multiple holes that have appeared over vacation. We’ve lost collards, kale, lettuces, and almost all of our large cabbages that had been growing well prior to break.
