Radish Planting

Ms. Chiu’s 1st graders planted individual radishes when we had extra garden time during parent/teachers conference week. We will observe how they grow and see what part of the radish plant we eat. Kids were excited over their own radish pots and many asked “Can we take these home later?” Our 3rd and 5th graders also planted their radishes directly into the ground in February. Soon they will be ready to harvest and taste.

Great photos. I love that kids who turn up their noses at veggies will gladly taste them (and love them!) when they grow it themselves!

Thank you for taking time to follow what’s happening in the garden whether in person or digitally! I’m glad to see that parent’s are checking in as my hopes were for this site to connect the wider community to the garden even if there isn’t time to come in person.

Radish is one of overlooked ingredients in salad.
I like pre-slice them and soak in water for quick salad builder.
