Cloud Watchers

After the rain, lightning, and thunder, 1st graders looked to the sky. A few weeks ago, 1st graders were introduced to the main catagories of clouds – stratus, cumulus, cirrus, and cumulonimbus. Using their cloud finder charts they observed storm clouds in the sky and were asked to sketch and tally up the different types of clouds they saw. As a wonderful surprise, instead of simply drawing the shapes of clouds, some students drew pictures of what they saw in the sky. We had dragaons, castles, and beetles as some of the clouds they charted on their paper.
