Garden Work Day Success

Today was a beautiful and warm day out at our school garden’s first work day of the year. A lot was accomplished as student and parent volunteers helped to prepare the garden for classes and new sets of plants this upcoming school year. Tasks reached today were: moving all of the wood mulch off of the sidewalk and onto the garden pathways, turning the garden beds, amending the soil with compost, re-painting faded garden signs, planting succulents, and draining the pond, which Jade kindly dived right into and completed for us today along with the help of other parents.

Garden work days are held on one Sunday each semester from 10am-1pm. It’s a great chance for middle schoolers to get community service hours and for families to spend time in the garden.
