Ceramic Garden Creature Signs

Our terrific ceramics instructor, Cathy Lu, 1st graders, and our garden program teamed up to make signage for the garden plants. Ms. Lu worked with students to create garden creatures with plant labels to help us add more identification tags to our plants. We were looking for signs that would be durable outdoors as we currently have painted wood, chalkboard, and paper signs that don’t quite last long with the rain and fog we get. Ms. Lu helped kids place holes on the bottom of their garden creatures for a dowel to fit underneath, which will allow some to rise above ground. Our first graders spread them throughout the garden last week by identifying the plant they wrote on their pieces. These new ceramics will be great art pieces to our garden!
