2013 Garden Party

Garden Party 2013

Here’s a little photo recap from our annual garden party on May 11th. We were lucky to have great weather in San Francisco and a nice turnout of students and families from the AFY community, including some of our new incoming kindergarten families! There was an array of food brought by families, and parent volunteers were out all afternoon barbecuing up burgers and hot dogs. Jennifer Louie, AFY parent volunteer, was also making batches of root beer floats and selling AFY garden calendars to help fundraise for our new irrigation system. In the garden itself, students and families had the chance to paint, make butter, and get their face painted while also having the opportunity to show their families what’s growing in the garden. We thank all the parent volunteers who came early to set-up, who stayed to cook and manage the activity stations, and who helped to clean-up at the end. In particular a big thank you to Jade Moy and Mary Beth Pudap our garden committee co-chairs for helping to organize the event and purchase food. A thank you to Jennifer Louie for all her work promoting the event, which includes creating a lovely hand-painted poster. Thanks to Ken Pang for letting us borrow his nice hot dog machine, and to Mr. Philip (our most hard working custodian) for making set-up and clean-up go smoothly. You can see additional garden party photographs from Greg Fong’s wonderful SmugMug site.
