Happy Halloween Everyone!
Last week our garden transformed into a pumpkin patch!
Kindergarten and 1st grade students were excited to enter through the spooky garden gate!
They searched high and low for “the perfect pumpkin.”
Some were “a little too heavy”… (Click the image below to hear for yourself!)
Others were declared “too small!”
But eventually, everyone found “the perfect pumpkin.”
Some even came with special friends! Click below to hear the excitement!
At the end of the day we all enjoyed halloween cookie treats from Ms. Wong!
Everyone left the pumpkin patch smiling, saying…
Our 5th graders also celebrated Halloween in the garden by doing a little pumpkin math!
They practiced estimating the size, weight and number of seeds in their pumpkins, then calculated the difference between their estimates and the actual values.
A few lucky 5th graders even got to take pumpkins home!
Huge thank you to Andronico’s Community Markets, which donated ALL of the pumpkins for our pumpkin patch this year!
Also, thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers, Raelynn Hickey, Jacquelyn Fung, Jeffrey Eade and Jennifer Louie, who helped with pumpkin transportation and set-up in the garden. Pumpkins were tossed, but amazingly none were harmed in the process!
